Capn's Log: Terra Nova

Guess I'm stuck with keyboarding this in, rather than dictatin' it. Stoopa comput'r still doesn't understand my accent. Gotta get Damian to check that out.

Anyway, Navaar's got us on this brand-spanking-new ship, th' Terra Nova. She's a Challenger-class ship -- whatever THAT means. Stoopa Alpha Quadrant ships. They got lotsa nice gadgets, 'n they sure are roomy, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what has what and why. This ship's supposedta have some kinda new drive system -- something called a "warpport" drive. From what I'm readin' it's some kinda cross between a transporter and a regular warp drive. I guess there's lotsa these "quadrants" where Navaar's from, 'n their "Starfleet" made this ship to rapidly go from the Alpha Quadrant to the Gamma Quadrant.

Th' ship's REALLY nice. Th' cabin's are like hotel suites, and it makes th' Liberty look like my old ship, all dinky and taped together. Shara just 'bout lost her mind when she saw Sickbay.

I'm readin' about the ship, and I gotta keep flippin' back and forth 'cause they refer to stuff like I should know it - like these quadrant things. Sounds like those quadrants are on the opposite sides o' their galaxy, and they gotta use some interspacial rift to get from one ta th' other, but it's unpredictable. With warpport, all the power of the engines goes into beamin' the ship from point A ta B.

Even with alla that power, though -- turns out there's a problem. The warpport drive ain't accurate. It gets ya close, relatively speakin', but you still gotta run the last leg of th' trip on a regular warp engine. Since most of th' ship's set aside fer th' warpport drive, the regular warp drive's limited to a pokey Warp 3. Guess that's ok, though, since ya get zapped lotsa light-years in one big whack. Guess I'm gonna have ta put th' "Double Ds" (Deliah and Damian) on th' spot ta really get this thing figured out.

Th' fact that this ship uses a goofy drive kinda worries me. Ain't like th' Transporter is the' most reliable bit o' gear ever invented. Then there's th' wild card o' Navaar -- why'd she give us such a nice appearin' gig? Lady freakin' hates us.... There's just somethin' we're missin'....
